The Ordinary Skincare Review| My Unbiased Review of The Ordinary

The Ordinary Skincare Review| My honest thoughts

So I trialled a few products from the ordinary skincare a while ago when they just launched for about 6 week and I wanted to share with you some of my findings. The Ordinary Skincare Company has been hyped up for such a long time everywhere and there a no thrills no nonsense sort of company when it comes to their marketing. They pride themselves on creating honest products that are effective. In fact their motto is clinical formulations with integrity and if you've been on their website you would know you have to read some of their products slowly just to pronounce it properly because the names are pretty scientific.

However, the website has a full breakdown in "average joe" terms that the non scientific people like myself and some of you can understand. There are so many reviews of The Ordinary out there both on YouTube and on alot of blogs, some that are even really long and in dept even so I wont bore you with the extremely long scientific background. In this post I am simply going to share with you the items I bought, what the product is meant to do for my skin and the results that I got.

So I purchased the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%, Lactic Acid 10%+HA2% and The Caffeine Solution 5%+ ECCG.

The Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%- So this is a brightening hydrator with stabalized Vitamin C Derative known to brighten the skin tone and reduces signs of ageing. The directions state to apply a small amount of this cream formula to face AM and PM, after application of water-based serums which I did over the six weeks. I've got to say I started noticing differences from this product very early on.  I didn't use makeup for such a long time while using this my face just looked more vibrant and glowing. I'm nearly finish with my tube because it was so good after trialling it I kept reaching for it. Also it doesn't have much of a smell also which is great. My only complaint is that this needs to come in a bigger tube. If you'd like to read some further background on this product you can have a read here on The Ordinary's Website.

The second product is the Lactic Acid 10%+HA2% and this is a hydroxyl acid that exfoliates the skin. The directions state that you should apply once per day, ideally in the PM. Can be diluted with other treatments to reduce strength until skin develops tolerance. I have to say based on the Youtube video I watched I really wanted to love this. I just assumed since it was 10% and it was stronger then the results would be better, boy was I wrong. I applied this as instructed despite I felt a little burning I didn't think anything of it then I saw little breakouts all over my skin. At first because it said to dilute it until my skin develops tolerance I kept using it and the same thing and the breakouts took some time to go away.It was at that point my husband just said if its not working for your skin just stop using it.

I suspected it would affect my skin in some way because it did smell extremely strong compared to other products I've used.  I wish I knew about the milder version it probably might be easier on my skin but I'm too uncertain to try it. So I continued trialling the other two products for the next few weeks and I didn't see anymore breakouts. Some people love this it just didn't agree with me so I would recommend for you to head over to the The Ordinary Website to read up on it before purchasing or use it very lightly to begin with to see how your skin reacts to it.

The Ordinary Skincare Review

Lastly,The Caffeine Solution 5%+ ECCG  contains a light-textured formula contains an extremely high 5% concentration of caffeine, supplemented with highly-purified Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (EGCG) from green tea leaves. It reduces the appearance of eye contour pigmentation and puffiness. I was excited the most about this product because the struggle with dark circles is very real for me and I guess because I've got an extremely active 1 year old it doesn't seem to be going away on its own. The results with this are so confusing because I noticed that it reduced my dark circles in some way, it didn't fully take them away but I noticed I looked less tired so much so that when I stopped using it I noticed the difference. In fact this is a product that I have added to my skincare routine to refresh tired skin and this will be coming on the blog soon.

My Overall Thoughts

So overall I do like the ordinary in fact I have ordered a few more things from them, I love the minimal packaging and I love most of the items I purchased. I have learnt to read the website in more dept before purchasing anything because these products are very generous with their ingredients.  The Caffeine solution falls under the more molecules category and it retails at £5.80, The Lactic Acid falls under the direct acids category and it retails for £5.80 and the Magnesium Ascorbyl falls under vitamins and retinols and retails for £7.80. I purchased my products from Asos but you can get them on many sites now The Ordinary's Website, Beauty Bay and even Victorian Health. Keep in mind the price does vary on some sites.

I've got some other products from The Ordinary that I am planning to trial so follow my blog so you will be notified of the post. Also if you have any recommendations of products you'd like me to try please leave a comment below.

Have you tried anything from The Ordinary and if so what are your thoughts on their products?

I hope you enjoyed today's review

Thank you for reading,
